Design Built for the Press, Not Just the Screen

Our in-house graphic design team creates print-ready layouts that look exceptional in ink — combining creative vision with deep technical knowledge of the print production process.

Great print design is not simply good graphic design saved as a PDF. It requires an understanding of how ink behaves on paper, how colours shift between screen and press, how type renders at small sizes, and how finishing effects interact with the printed surface. At Astro Graphics, our design team works exclusively in the print environment. Every layout we produce is built to our own press specifications — with correct bleed, colour profiles, ink limits, and finishing allowances built in from the start. The result is artwork that goes to press without surprises and comes off the press looking exactly as intended.

File Setup

Artwork & File Preparation

1When briefing a design project, supply all brand assets in their highest-quality format — vector logos (AI or EPS) are essential; avoid supplying logos as low-resolution JPEGs.
2Provide your brand colour references in Pantone (PMS) and CMYK values. If you only have RGB or HEX values, we will convert them and advise on any significant colour shift.
3Supply all photography and imagery at the highest resolution available. We can work with images as low as 150 dpi for large-format, but 300 dpi is required for standard commercial print.
4A detailed written brief — including target audience, key messages, tone of voice, and any mandatory content — produces better design outcomes and fewer revision rounds.
5If you have existing brand guidelines, supply them at the start of the project. We will adhere to your brand standards throughout.

Colour & Proofing

Colour Matching & Proof Approval

All design work is produced in the correct CMYK colour profile for the intended print process. We do not design in RGB and convert at the end.

A digital PDF proof is issued for client approval before any file is sent to press. The proof reflects the actual press-ready file.

For colour-critical design work, we recommend approving a physical proof before committing to a full print run. This is particularly important for brand colour matching.

We advise clients on realistic colour expectations for their chosen stock and print process. Some colours — particularly vibrant oranges, bright greens, and neon tones — are difficult to achieve accurately in CMYK.

How It Works

The Ordering Process

01

Design Brief

Complete our design brief form or discuss your project with our team. The more detail you provide, the more accurately we can quote and deliver.

02

Quote & Approval

We provide a design quote based on estimated hours. Once approved, we begin work and keep you updated on progress.

03

Design & Revisions

We present initial concepts for your feedback. Two rounds of revisions are included. Additional rounds are available at our standard hourly rate.

04

Press-Ready Output

Approved designs are prepared as press-ready files and passed directly to our production team — no file handoff delays.
