File Setup

Artwork & File Preparation

1Supply files as press-ready PDF/X-1a or PDF/X-4 with all fonts embedded and images linked at 300 dpi minimum.
2Set up your document in CMYK colour mode. RGB files will be converted during prepress, which may shift colours unexpectedly.
3Include a minimum 3mm bleed on all edges where artwork extends to the trim edge. Keep critical text and logos at least 5mm inside the trim line.
4Ensure all black text is set to 100% K only (not rich black) to avoid registration issues on small type.
5For rich black backgrounds, use C60 M40 Y40 K100 for deep, even coverage — avoid exceeding 280% total ink coverage.
6Supply native files (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) as a backup alongside your PDF so our prepress team can make minor corrections if needed.
7Accepted formats: PDF (preferred), AI, EPS, INDD (with packaged links and fonts), PSD at 300 dpi.
8Pantone colours should be specified by PMS number. Confirm whether you require Pantone spot printing or CMYK simulation.

Colour & Proofing

Colour Matching & Proof Approval

We produce a digital soft proof (PDF) for every order before committing to press. This proof shows layout, colour intent, and content — please review it carefully before approving.

For colour-critical work, we offer a physical press proof or contract proof printed on calibrated equipment. This is the most accurate representation of the final printed result and is strongly recommended for brand-sensitive materials.

Pantone (PMS) colours can be matched using spot ink on offset press. When printing Pantone colours in CMYK, a visual shift of 5-10% is normal and expected — we will advise you of any significant deviations before production.

Screen colours (RGB) will always appear more vibrant than printed CMYK output. We recommend evaluating colour from a printed proof rather than a monitor.

Once a proof is approved in writing, Astro Graphics is not liable for colour variations that fall within industry-standard tolerances (plus or minus 5 Delta E).

Paper stock affects colour appearance significantly. Coated stocks produce sharper, more saturated results; uncoated stocks absorb ink and produce a softer, more muted appearance.

Pricing

What Affects Your Quote

Every project is unique. We provide detailed, itemised quotations based on your exact requirements. The following factors influence the final price:

Quantity — unit cost decreases significantly at higher volumes
Print process — digital vs. offset press setup costs
Paper stock weight and grade (coated, uncoated, recycled)
Number of colours — CMYK vs. spot Pantone colours
Finished size and number of pages
Lamination and coating type (gloss, matte, soft-touch)
Special finishes — spot UV, foil, embossing, die-cutting
Binding method for multi-page documents
Turnaround requirement — standard vs. rush production
Delivery method and destination

Turnaround

Production & Delivery Times

Standard turnaround: 5-7 business days from proof approval for most offset print jobs.
Digital short-run orders: typically 2-4 business days from proof approval.
Rush turnaround available: 24-48 hours for qualifying digital jobs — please enquire when requesting your quote.
Turnaround times begin from the date of written proof approval, not from the date of order placement.
Complex finishing (foiling, embossing, die-cutting) may require additional production time — we will advise at quotation stage.
Delivery is via courier to your address or available for collection from our Dallas facility at 13631 Floyd Cir, Dallas, TX 75243.
